Recently, there has been an instance of Jammers getting blocked, banned, and/or hacked, without having done anything against the game’s Terms of Service. AJ Classic and Animal Jam (Play Wild) were both compromised. Please read through this entire post so you know what happened and how to protect your account.
What Happened
We believe that someone found a way to change anybody’s Parent Dashboard email as long as they had the player username. The hacker exploited that to wreak havoc on the game. This is why many “famous” accounts appeared to be banned (AJHQ, Jambassadors, etc.) If you had a fairly simple username, or were somewhat known in the AJ community, this is likely why you were hacked.
If you changed your parent parent email or email password earlier today, it likely did nothing, as the hackers would still have access to your username. Your best bet was to cross your fingers and hope (unfortunately).
A while after these hacks had been occurring, Jammers were logging on and either couldn’t log on or they were getting blocked as they were attempting to log on. This is likely because WildWorks shut down the servers, and if anyone managed to log on, they were immediately temporarily blocked.
Your best bet here was to wait out the block. Sure you can email WildWorks, but they usually take ages to respond, and now they probably have over double the emails coming in (& double the wait).
If You Were Hacked
Really the only thing you can do is contact WildWorks. While the email response is going to take a while, it is the only way you can possibly get your stuff back.
When sending a ticket to WildWorks, make sure to include your username, parent dashboard email address, and the last time you accessed your account. It will minimize the amount of emails you need to send, and hopefully get WildWorks to fix the problem as quickly as they can.
Q&A
Are the Animal Jam games safe now?
AJ Classic and Animal Jam (Play Wild) are safe to log in to now, but please exercise caution (as normal) when talking with suspicious people that may be attempting to scam you.
Who was behind these hacks?
It is currently believed that “astrosquad” was responsible for these hacks. It is currently unknown for certain.
How can I reach out to WildWorks?
You can submit a ticket to them on their website:
