[DONE] Broken Archive Links

Edit: It seems that any broken Thread links will automatically correct themselves after a null-edit is made to the voting page (editing and clicking submit without actually changing anything). As a result, all of the Thread links on the voting pages have now been restored.

As a result of the Discussions and UCP migration, links to the Thread namespace (pages that begin with Thread: followed by some arbitrary number) no longer work. Consequently, most if not all links on the Animal Jam Wiki:Archives/Voting and Animal Jam Wiki:Archives/Partnerships pages are broken and should be replaced with functional links to their Discussions counterpart. It would be excellent if you could help restore these links, as the Archives are an important part of the wiki that tracks policy changes and community consensus throughout the years.

Most voting threads and discussion threads can be found in the Wiki Content/Layout category and the Meta Talk Forum category, so these places are where you would want to start looking. It is also helpful to use Special:Search to find a specific thread, but in my experience, it often does not return the results I'm looking for. A better way to search the Discussions is to use Google and prepend site:animaljam.fandom.com/f to all your search queries.

On an unrelated note, this is the first to-do task in a year and a half. It's amazing how the times have changed.

Den Item Animated GIF

Based on the results of a previous discussion (Thread:780869), it seems that interested community members would like to see animated GIF images added for the more complicated den items that have long animation cycles (including those that are activated through interaction/clicking).

If you are interested in creating/adding animated GIF images for the items as described above, perhaps you could reply below with your thoughts on where we should draw the line for long/complicated vs short/simple. An example would be if we limited den item animated images to a non-repeating cycle that lasts for more than 5 seconds.

Possible items to consider can be found in Category:Interactive Items and Category:Animated Den Items.

If you'd like to simply start adding animated GIF images for den items right away, please try to focus on items that have longer and more complicated animations/interactions first. Thanks!

Adventure NPCs

I will get around to this eventually, but I am adding it here in case I forget or in case anyone wants to help work on it.

Per Thread:740745 from a couple months ago, all individual NPC articles (examples: Category:NPCs) should be merged into a single NPC article. The single article should include:

explanation of what an NPC (Non-Player Character) is in the context of Animal Jam specifically
list of NPC characters, probably in a table format so that they can be sorted by adventure and by animal type
NPC dialog images
Trivia about significant NPCs like if any appear in multiple adventures or if any changed significantly over time as a result of game updates

~~I'm not sure if the Alphas should be considered a type of NPC or not.~~ I don't think Alphas should be considered a type of NPC. Technically, they are a non-player character in the game, but they are completely different from the regular animal NPCs and animal Jammers. You are welcome to discuss that below or in comments of the NPC page.

A mistake on the Animals page seal is described as amphibians

Although it was released in January 2011 before the ocean areas were available, the first amphibious animal was the Seal. Seals are not amphibians! while they both go on land and water they are not amphibians. They should replace it with Air breathing aquatic animal, aquatic mammal, semi-aquatic tetrapod, pinniped etc. Generally an amphibian is more of a frog or newt.

I tried updating some badges back in 2016/2017 and after a user brought up interest in it, I started updating some more recently. Here is a complete list of badges and achievement groups. If you have any suggestions for changes to a badge image or achievement text, please reply here to explain your idea. You can suggest changes to recently updated badges and achievements, but the ones that need the most attention at the moment are those for editing Categories ~~as well as the "Wiki Love" ones for repeatedly editing each day~~.

Pets Pages, Mainly Promo Pets

I've noticed a lot of pets pages, mainly rare and promo pets suffer from these problems. I plan on helping to fix these myself but any help would be appreciated.

Some are lacking pictures in the features or accessories galleries. I've been collecting promo pets in-game so I might be able to help with pets I own myself. But I could also check videos from famous jammers like Shopking for pictures of these things, or ask others that do have the pets with missing pictures.

Some have a ton of pet certificate pictures and other redundant pictures in the normal gallery. I don't think the number of them that some have are necessary. Remove some.

Some of the pictures in their galleries need to be cropped.

Conflicting Availability

I created a new maintenance category (Category:Conflicting Availability) and template ({{availability}}) for pages where the category/infobox/content do not agree about whether or not something is available.

It currently has some items that had Category:Unavailable on them but did not have "In stores = No" in the infobox. This typically means that either the infobox is wrong and should be edited to have "In stores = No" or the category is wrong and should be removed and replaced with Category:Available if it is not already there. The introductory paragraph may also have incorrect details about whether the item is currently / was formerly available.

It also has some items that had one of the in-stores categories (example: Category:Jam Mart Clothing) but did not have "In stores = Yes" in the infobox. This typically means that either the infobox is wrong and should be edited to have "In stores = Yes" or the category is wrong and should be removed and replaced with the corresponding "Formerly" store category (example: Category:Formerly Jam Mart Clothing) if it is not already there. The introductory paragraph may also have incorrect details about whether the item is currently / was formerly available.

If you decide to help with this, you must carefully review and investigate which part is correct and which part needs to be changed. After being fixed, the template should be removed.

Indentions

Must indentions be included, or will we not have indentions. I understand it would be lots of edits to put in indentions, I am just wondering if it is something that would help the wiki, or would it just be a pointless waste of time? (Im guessimg its just a pointless waste of time but I’m asking anyways)

Adventure Walkthrough Suggestion (Continued)

This is continued on a new thread because the old task thread was very old. The basic idea is that adventure walkthrough descriptions should use bullet points or a numbered list because it makes them easier to follow.

When suggesting a new list, there are a couple of things to consider:

The result of the lists should not be excessively long. Let's say under 300 pages for each list. Any more than that and they should be further divided into smaller lists because super long lists aren't as helpful in general.
The results of the lists should be considerably distinct. If two lists are nearly identical except for a handful of pages, it would be better to just have one list with a note about the handful of pages.
The results of the lists should be meaningful to Jammers (such as helping to identify potentially valuable items) and not just a random combination of categories.
Each list has a limit of 6 categories combined together using logical intersections (AND). That is just how DPLforum code works and we cannot do anything about it.
Logical unions (OR) are not directly part of DPLforums, but they can be implemented by having two lists side-by-side.
- For example, ( ( Possible Prizes OR Betas ) AND Unavailable ) is similar to having two lists of ( Possible Prizes AND Unavailable ) alongside ( Betas AND Unavailable ) except that there will be duplicates and you wouldn't be able to sort them together.
Logical negations (NOT) can be used for any category.
- For example, ( Den Items AND ( NOT Betas ) AND Unavailable ) would be all den items that are not from Beta Testing and are not sold in stores.
The lists have to be defined using categories. That is just how DPLforum code works and we cannot do anything about it.
