Den Item Contest

The Den Item Contests are several series of contests announced in the Jamaa Journal to determine the next set of den items that will be released on Animal Jam Classic. There are currently two different contest formats: a submission-based format, where Jammers design their own den items, and a voting-based format, where Jammers vote on den items that have already been designed by AJHQ.

Submission-Based Contests[]

To participate, Jammers must submit concept artwork of their desired den item. The selected design is then further refined by AJHQ before being released into stores.

April 2012[]

The winner of this contest was the Cleverclaw's Dresser, which was submitted by Miss Cleverclaw. The item was subsequently released in Jam Mart Furniture.

May 2012[]

Known as the Ocean Den Item Contest, this contest led to the creation of Speedywolf's Seahorse, which was submitted by Awesome Speedywolf. It was released in Sunken Treasures on May 24, 2012.

2021[]

On June 3, 2021, another submission-based contest was announced on the Jamaa Journal, inviting players to design a den item through the Painting activity. By using the Send To AJHQ button, the artwork would be submitted into the contest to possibly be one of the ten designs added into the game. On August 5, 2021, the winners were announced, and their designs were featured in the Jamaa Journal. From that day on, two or three items from the 2021 Den Item Contest Collection would be released every Saturday in Jam Mart Furniture.

Voting-Based Contests[]

All Jammers can participate in these contests by voting for their favorite set of den items out of three collections. The voting period is typically two weeks and once finished, the collections are released one month at a time in order based on the most votes.

July 2014[]

This contest was first announced on July 23, 2014 in Volume 123 of the Jamaa Journal. The winner of this contest was the Ice Cream Parlor Collection, followed by the Egyptian Treasure Collection and finally the Hair Salon Collection.

January 2015[]

On January 8, 2015, in Volume 135 of the Jamaa Journal, a vote was held with the winner of this contest was the Pizza Parlor Collection, followed by the Paint Studio Collection and then the Deep Space Collection.

April 2015[]

Announced on April 30, 2015 in Volume 145 of the Jamaa Journal. The Mechanical Future Collection won, coming in second was the Sand Castle Collection and third the Excavation Site Collection.

August 2015[]

In Volume 152 of the Jamaa Journal on August 6, 2015, the contest was announced. The winner was the Glitchy Gear Collection, then the Movie Theater Collection, and lastly the Steampunk Parlor Collection.

Trivia[]

There are other similar submission-based item contests that have been hosted by AJHQ:
- The Flag Contest in 2012 resulted in the release of the Jamaa Flag, which was designed by Mythical Arcticstar.
- Cosmo's Hat Contest in 2013 resulted in the release of the Eagle Hat, which was designed by Mighty Spiritwolf.
