Balloosh is a wetland-themed area located in the top-left corner of Jamaa. It was released on February 15, 2018, after its existence was discovered through the adventure The River's Heart. It links to Mt. Shiveer through a bridge above the Hot Cocoa Hut and links to Appondale from a pathway behind the Conservation Museum.

Appearance[]

Balloosh is made of swampy ground and surrounded by tall, twisting trees with hanging vines. The trees darken the area, but it is lit by patches of sunlight and yellow lanterns. Stone bridges, wooden walkways, and stepping stones connect the different areas.

Atop several waterfalls in the top-left corner of the area sits the Temple of the Ancients, an ancient-looking stone building covered in glowing markings. A stone staircase leads down from the temple to the middle of the area, where the Ancient Sabertooth Heartstone used to be before it was moved inside the temple on May 24, 2018 (the release day of the Direwolf). To the right of the Heartstone's former spot is a wooden market complex on stilts that houses one of the land's shops, Ancient Antiquities. On the left side of the map, near the bridge to Appondale, there is a large tree with spiral steps leading up to two empty wooden platforms. There is also a circle of mysterious glowing stones with markings similar to the Ancient Heartstone in the bottom right corner.

Attractions[]

  • Temple of the Ancients - A large overgrown temple with blue glowing markings, similar in appearance to the ancient city from The Mystery Below. The inside of the temple contains information about Balloosh's past and the Arctic Wolf hero Juno, as well as two shops and some educational plaques about extinction events.

Trivia[]

  • Balloosh is a marsh-like land and is most likely based off of the Everglades, a region of marshes in Florida.
  • There was originally a sketch for Balloosh that was removed from Animal Jam Classic's files in 2017. This 2017 version of Balloosh is likely an early concept as it looks very different from the land's final version.
    • There also used to be an earlier sketch of the land.
  • It is possible to climb up the market structure, similar to the tree in Appondale.
  • As of 2022, Balloosh is the only main Land area not available in the mobile app.
  • When the Sabertooth was released, the pink rock around the Heartstone was scraped off to reveal the actual blue stone underneath with fang markings on it. Later, when the Direwolf was released, the Heartstone was moved to the Temple of the Ancients.
  • Balloosh's Journey Book has a heron, which is Mira's species.
  • There have been several Phantom-themed items hidden in Balloosh. First, there was a Phantom Pipe and Valve at the bottom right of the temple. On November 22, 2018, this was removed and replaced with a Phantom Wall Decal underneath the stone bridge. On November 29, 2018, the Phantom Wall Decal was also removed due to the Jamaalidays, and in turn, a Jamaaliday Phantom Plushie was put near the entrance of the temple. The plushie was removed at an unknown date.
