I wanna write a story but I don't think I can do it, please help.
the concept is two characters, the villain and the hero are best friends outside of work, they hate each other in their different ideals and actions, but they get along well due to their personalities.
i need some help on how I could make this realistically happen, since I want to it be a fantasy, but I don't know how to make the two know each other and still be friends on the weekends
I'm low key honored that I can give advice, big thank
First of all, believe in yourself. You can do it.
Second, to get a good understanding, ask yourself a lot of questions. Regarding the characters separately, what are their morals? What are they like? Do they have certain mannerisms, ways of speaking, ways of dressing, ways of acting (to all or to certain people), etc?
Regarding them together, do they argue a lot? What do they bond over? What annoys them about the other? What are they like at work opposed to out of work?
Also, what is their work? Do they have families, friends, and/or loved ones?
Third, do some worldbuilding. Since it's fantasy, is it similar to our world now or is it different? For example, TuesdayHVP is set in a medival-type world (specifically in the Kingdom of Madorica) where there is very little to no technology, and Total Dictatorship is set in a modern-type world (specifically the Autocratic State of Risia (ngl I got distracted thinking of the full title, which might change)), where technology is very common and used in everyday life.
Once you have that, how do they interact with the world? Does it play a significant part in their interactions?
It's important to know the conflict type, if there is one. Is it action fantasy, adventure fantasy, slice-of-life fantasy, or is it something else mixed with fantasy? Fit it into as many story catagories as you see fit.
Fourth, you really need to develop the characters as much as possible. You don't have to get something as trivial as their favorite food or color, unless it's important. Hell, you don't even have to come up with names at first (seriously, I just recently came up with names for some characters I've had for months who's stories I've been actively working on (their names are Jax and Asmodeus, btw))
Character design is pretty fun, too. A good tip my art teacher told me is to have opposing characters have opposing color schemes. Evil leans to warmer colors, while good leans to cooler colors.
I can't really think of anything else, so I'll leave it at that.
I know there were a lot of questions, but to give better advice, I need more to work with than just the concept. Take some time to develop things, and then you can ask me with anything you're still unsure about.
Also please tell me if Kerosene Jorts is a good psuedonym or not I need to know fairly soon because I need to have something before 2020
First of all thanks so much, I'll be sure to do all of that stuff. Secondly I'm really happy on how you progressed, as at first it kinda didn't seem like you knew what you were doing, but seeing how serious you've become about your passions is amazing.
also that is an epic swag coolio pseudonym, I'm sure you'll have people in awe of that name
Epic, I'm sure it'll be a good story once you've finished
Question: Should I have a fanart feature for the website, and if so, do you mind if I display the art you made of my characters (the one of Alex and the one with Finn and Michael) on it? How would I credit you (if you'd like me to credit, it's alright to be anonymous), since you don't really have any social media I can link to?
Epic swag, I’ll get to it, I’ll be sorting it a bit differently from my hall of fame, with the stories headers all open, and once you open them all of the dates will be lined up, I’ll make sure it is very epic swag.
