- A vast majority showed support of at least blocking vandals from partner wikis, but we might need further discussion to determine how best to implement such an idea.

Block AT LEAST Significant Partner Vandals |

It has come to my attention that there are an increasing number of incidents where users will cause trouble on wikis that we are partnered with and then come here to cause more trouble. In the past, most of the community had said that they don't want us to punish them for their activity on other sites, but I am wondering if that should also apply to significant vandalism on other wikis as well.
Should we consider blocking users for significant vandalism on other wikis?
- A. No - Don't block users here if they haven't violated our policies here.
- B. Partnered-Wikis-Only - Block users here if they have demonstrated significant vandalism on our partnered wikis.
- C. Any-Wikis - Block users here if they have demonstrated significant vandalism anywhere on FANDOM/Wikia.
- Other - Any other ideas about this should be included in your reply.
What might qualify as significant vandalism? |
---|
In general, the significance is determined by:
Examples:
|
What about significant harassment/bullying? |
---|
Significant harassment or bullying is a violation of FANDOM Terms of Use and should be reported directly to FANDOM staff. |
What about significant advertisement spam? |
---|
Significant advertisement spam is a violation of FANDOM Terms of Use and should be reported directly to FANDOM staff. |
What about significant profanity/other misbehaving? |
---|
Profanity (and various other misbehaving) is enforced differently on different wikis. Some wikis do not have any enforcement against profanity/other misbehaving, whereas pretty much all wikis have some form of enforcement against vandalism. |
What about users that are blocked for other/invalid reasons? |
---|
This would not be dependent on whether or not the user is blocked on another wiki. This would only be looking at whether or not the user perpetrated significant vandalism on another wiki. |
How would we know if a user had significant vandalism on another wiki? |
---|
Typically this would just be from users that report it to us, but we would investigate a user's activity on other wikis if they were behaving suspiciously/poorly on this wiki. Technically, a bot could be set up to check the recent blocks of certain wikis, such as on partnered wikis, but I think that would only be an extreme case if there was a lot more vandalism going around. |
What are partnered wikis? |
---|
A wiki partnership is basically an agreement between two wikis to help promote one another. Typically this is done just by adding links to each other's wikis on the home pages. Some relevant partnerships also include links on articles to corresponding pages on the other wiki, where applicable. Partnerships can also help promote inter-wiki communities to encourage contributors to help out on both wikis. |
